We Put Our Resources Where They’re Needed The Most

We have a rich history of improving maternal health through innovative care delivery models. We created the first birth center in Washington, DC, in 2000 for all women, especially Women of Color.

How You Can Help!

We put our resources where they’re needed the most. Support the Developing Families Maternal Health Fund to help eradicate Maternal Health Disparities among Women of Color in underserved communities in Washington, DC through funding programs and services supported through the Greater Washington Community Foundation (the “Community Foundation”).

All gifts to the Developing Families Maternal Health Fund are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law through the Greater Washington Community Foundation and will help us to continue to provide these important programs to the Women of Color in the District of Columbia, especially in Wards 5, 7, and 8.

Cash Gifts:

A donation in cash is always the most efficient way to support what we do, because cash can be immediately applied to priority areas-of-need. You may send a check, make an online donation, or pledge your gift over several months.

Bequests:

A gift through your will is a simple and effective way to make a huge impact on the future health and wellbeing of Black women and children in the Washington DC area. You can donate a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate after all other commitments are made.

If you have questions or need help with bequest wording, please contact the Greater Washington Community Foundation office at donorservices@thecommunityfoundation.org or the Community Foundation’s general number at 202-955-5890.

Appreciated Stock:

Donations of stock often allow individuals to make larger gifts than they would normally give. The Community Foundation’s policy is to immediately sell the stock and turn it into cash.

Donors will be credited with the average between the high and low value of the stock on the day it was donated and can take that as their tax deduction. Please contact the Community Foundation if this is how you choose to give your support.
